Fellowship trained Retina Specialist

kamal-kishoreDr. Kamal Kishore is a skilled and well-trained board certified ophthalmologist and retina specialist who is well known nationally and internationally for his numerous contributions to the specialty of retina, vitreous and macula over a period extending more than two decades.

He moved to Peoria, IL in 1999 after completing two years of fellowship training at LSU Eye Center in New Orleans, LA.  He was under the guidance of Dr. Peyman, who is one of the foremost pioneers in the rapidly evolving specialty of retina.

Dr. Kishore started his own practice in 2003 and has grown it throughout the years to be one of the leading retina clinics in the region. The practice started out seeing most of its patients from local referrals by medical doctors and other eye care providers. However, an increasing number of patients with active retina problems such as macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, retinal detachments and complications from previous eye surgery are coming from Central, North Central and Western Illinois due to his expertise and reputation in the retina field.

In 2022, Dr. Kishore was promoted from Clinical Assistant Professor at the University of Illinois College of Medicine in Peoria to a Clinical Associate Professor where he works with medical students seeking a career in ophthalmology.

He has authored more than ten book chapters, published more than 40 articles in peer reviewed journals and given more than 200 presentations including lectures, surgical video presentations and scientific posters.

He has received numerous awards throughout his career including the Technovision Award for his surgical video from the American Society of Retina Specialists (2014), Honor Award (ASRS 2015) and the Senior Honor Award (ASRS 2017). Some of his surgical videos can be viewed on YouTube. He also serves as a reviewer for several ophthalmology journals and as a judge in scientific meetings.
